Description
Delicious sprinkle butter cookies that are soft and fluffy.
Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat softened butter with powdered sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add egg and vanilla extract, and beat until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the butter mixture, just until combined.
- Gently fold in sprinkles if using.
- Cover dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Scoop 1-tablespoon portions of dough, roll into balls, and optionally coat with more powdered sugar.
- Place balls 2 inches apart on baking sheets and bake for 9-11 minutes.
- Let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- For chewier cookies, do not overbake.
- Feel free to mix in different kinds of sprinkles or add chocolate chips.
