Description

A delicious apple cinnamon dish using fresh apples and warm spices.


Ingredients

  • 34 medium firm apples (e.g., Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract (non-alcoholic if preferred)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 12 tsp neutral oil or cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples, then toss with lemon juice in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the egg, milk, and vanilla extract together.
  4. Add the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Fold in the sliced apples until evenly coated.
  6. Grease a baking dish with cooking spray or oil, then pour the mixture in, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake for about 30-40 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
