Description

Delicious homemade croissants that are flaky and buttery.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 400 g flour
  • 7 g instant yeast
  • 15 g granulated sugar
  • 7 g salt
  • 35 ml sunflower oil
  • 225 ml warm water
  • 40 g butter (for spreading)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, salt, sunflower oil, and warm water. Knead for 10-12 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  2. Divide the dough into two equal portions and roll each into a round sheet on a floured surface.
  3. Spread softened butter over one dough sheet and layer the second sheet on top. Cut into 12 equal triangles.
  4. Roll each triangle from the wide base towards the tip to shape the croissants.
  5. Place on a parchment-lined baking tray, brush with beaten egg, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F) and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Ensure the water is warm but not hot to activate the yeast without killing it.
  • For best results, let the croissants cool before serving.
