Description

Deliciously sweet and tangy candied oranges perfect for snacking or garnishing desserts.


Ingredients

  • 2 medium oranges (about 350g)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
  • 1 cup water (240ml)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (5ml)

Instructions

  1. Wash the oranges thoroughly and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat until dissolved; add vanilla extract.
  3. Add orange slices to the syrup and simmer for 30 minutes until tender and translucent.
  4. Remove slices with tongs and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. For extra shine, dip cooled slices back into the syrup briefly before drying again on the rack.
  6. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature.
