Description
A rich and creamy hot chocolate infused with orange zest, topped with whipped cream and shaved chocolate.
Ingredients

- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- 2 to 3 strips orange peel
- 1 ounce dark chocolate
- Whipped cream, shaved chocolate, orange zest
Instructions
- Combine milk, sugar, and orange peel in a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Heat the mixture, stirring frequently, until the milk is steaming but not boiling, between 170 to 180°F.
- While the milk is heating, break the chocolate into small pieces.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat, and remove the orange peel. Gradually whisk in the chocolate pieces until the chocolate is melted.
- Pour into a heat-proof mug and serve immediately topped with whipped cream, shaved chocolate, and orange zest, if desired. (If you serve the hot chocolate in a clear glass mug, you may notice it develops a darker layer on top as it cools. This is normal and won’t affect the flavor.)
Notes
- Note 1: Use fresh orange peel for the best flavor.
- Note 2: Dark chocolate can be substituted with milk chocolate for a sweeter taste.
